Why Choose RWB Reliability Block Diagrams
RBDs provide a transparent, auditable model of how component reliabilities combine to determine system reliability — making the logic of redundancy, diversity and voting systems visible and quantifiable. RWB supports both exact analytical solutions and Monte Carlo simulation for complex systems.
Series, Parallel and k-of-n Logic
Model any combination of series (all required), parallel (any one sufficient) and k-out-of-n (m of n required) configurations. RWB handles nested redundancy at any level of the system hierarchy — from component to sub-system to full system level — with both analytical and simulation solutions.
Active and Standby Redundancy
Distinguish between active parallel redundancy — where all units are operating simultaneously — and standby redundancy — where backup units are dormant until called upon. Standby systems require explicit modelling of switching reliability and dormant failure rates to correctly represent system availability.
Importance Measures
Identify which components have the greatest influence on system reliability using Birnbaum, Risk Achievement Worth (RAW) and Risk Reduction Worth (RRW) importance measures. Direct maintenance investment, design improvement and inspection effort to the components that matter most to system-level performance.
Common Cause Failure Modelling
Model common cause failures — events that cause multiple components to fail simultaneously, defeating redundancy. RWB implements Beta Factor, Multiple Greek Letter and Alpha Factor common cause failure models per IEC 61508 and nuclear industry standards.
Analytical and Simulation Solutions
For standard configurations, RWB provides exact analytical solutions — computing system reliability and MTTF mathematically. For complex systems with time-dependent or state-dependent behaviour, Monte Carlo simulation provides robust numerical estimates with confidence intervals.
Design Compliance and Safety Cases
RBD analysis provides the system reliability evidence required by IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ARP4761 and defence safety standards — demonstrating that redundancy architecture achieves the required Safety Integrity Level or reliability target. TMG formats outputs for integration into your safety case documentation.
How The Mantua Group Works With You
Every organisation is at a different point in its reliability journey. We match our engagement to where you are — from full hands-on delivery through to training your team to self-sufficiency.
We Do — You Learn
TMG leads the full implementation with your team participating throughout to build genuine capability alongside delivery. Ideal for first-time deployments or when internal resources are stretched.
We Do Together
Our most common model. TMG engineers work alongside your maintenance, operations and engineering teams in structured workshops — combining their asset knowledge with our analytical methodology to produce models your team trusts and owns.
We Train — You Do
For teams building internal capability, TMG delivers structured training covering software operation, methodology, and integration. Available as public courses or dedicated onsite delivery across Australia and the United States.
Independent Review & Audit
TMG provides independent technical review of existing models and regulatory submissions — assessing methodology rigour, data quality and standards compliance. Particularly valuable ahead of AER determinations, investment board presentations or safety audits.
Model Your System Reliability
Whether you need an RBD to demonstrate safety integrity, optimise redundancy architecture or support a design review — The Mantua Group is ready to help.
