PeakAvenue FaultTree+: Cloud-Native Fault Tree Analysis

The Isograph fault tree engine has been in continuous development since the 1980s and is regarded worldwide as the standard for quantitative safety and reliability analysis. PeakAvenue FaultTree+ carries that proven methodology onto a modern SaaS platform: browser-based, collaborative, and integrated into the PeakAvenue eQMS.

The Problem With Classic Fault Tree Tooling

The analytical engines were never the weakness. The workflow was. Classic fault tree tools are typically desktop-bound, used in isolation from the wider quality system, and poorly connected to the processes their results are supposed to inform. The fault tree identifies a critical minimal cut set; the CAPA that addresses it lives in a different system; the audit that verifies the fix lives in a third. Traceability depends on people remembering to keep documents aligned, which produces inefficiency, compliance gaps and slow decisions.

What FaultTree+ Changes

  • Real-time collaboration in the browser. Multiple analysts work in the same fault tree model simultaneously, from any location, with no project files circulating by email and no version reconciliation. Trees can be built in small teams or by area and consolidated into a comprehensive overall analysis.
  • Integration into the quality system. Deviations, CAPAs, audits and risks link directly to fault tree models, so the path from top event to root cause to corrective action is traceable end to end. This is the connected behaviour described on our Digital Thread page.
  • Compliance without the paperwork burden. Version control, audit trails and reporting run automatically in the background, keeping analyses documented in an audit-ready state at all times, with support for IEC 61025 and IEC 61508.
  • Leaner IT. Cloud-native delivery means nothing to install, patch or maintain locally, with automatic updates and flexible scaling.

An Entry Point, Not an Endpoint

FaultTree+ is designed as the entry into scalable reliability analysis on the PeakAvenue platform. Organisations can begin with fault tree analysis and expand into additional methods on the same platform and the same data basis as the roadmap grows, including event tree analysis, reliability block diagrams, Weibull analysis, Markov models and a parts library. The investment carries forward: expansion happens without changing systems. FaultTree+ is developed for safety-critical and quality-regulated industries, including medical technology, aerospace, automotive, energy, transportation and industrial manufacturing.

The analytical foundations are the ones our practice is built on. For the underlying method, see our Fault Tree Analysis service page and the concept article RBDs and Fault Trees: Two Lenses, One System. For the mathematics, our white papers on the MOCUS minimal cut set algorithm and the Beta Factor CCF model derive the machinery from first principles.

FaultTree+ and the Desktop Workbenches

A question we hear often: does the cloud direction affect Availability Workbench and Reliability Workbench? The desktop workbenches remain the deep-analysis workhorses for Monte Carlo availability simulation, RCM cost optimisation, Weibull analysis, life cycle costing and CMMS integration, and continue to be fully supported. FaultTree+ extends the same methodological family with cloud collaboration and eQMS integration. The right question is not desktop or cloud; it is which analyses need depth, which need reach, and how the results connect.
